synopsis : : This is a project that required a public plaza and a small exhibition hall to be inserted into a a void of an existing metal pergola structure. The stone plaza was bent-up as a wave in order to protect the resulting open space from the very heavy highway passing right behind the site. This folding of the pavement of the plaza became then an oportunity to hide the exhibition space so that it wouldnt appear occupying the public space. With its surprising bending stone surface going from the sky to underwater, and without the distraction of the small exhibition hall, the rotund presence of the plaza managed to impose itself to the non very gracious existing structure that somehow we wanted to make disappear : : photos by  J.
